Even Your Home Isn’t Safe from House Shark

When I was younger I used to have an irrational fear of a shark being in our swimming pool.  Looking back it looks kind of silly.  Well, now there’s a new movie looking for funding in Indiegogo that may be just as crazy.  It’s about a shark in an actual house.  Read on for the details and how you can contribute to make this movie.

If you’re a “JAWS” fan – and who isn’t?!! – the tongue-in-cheek perks alone make it a must-read. Perks are named after either breeds of sharks, or characters from that blockbuster film, while the descriptions give new slants on many of the movie’s all too memorable quotes. There’s also a brief fundraiser specific video with inside info on the movie’s writer/director, Ron Bonk, his past productions like “She Kills” (which is pre-selling as part of the campaign), and of course details on “House Shark” – which includes bonus glimpses at the scenes already shot and some quick FIRST EVER glances at the concept art for the House Shark itself. As a bonus, there’s 60+ more links in the gallery to past movie trailers and videos from Ron Bonk’s long career in the underground, as well as behind the scenes pictures and promotional stills from many of his past productions. SRS also promises video updates each week during the campaign.

Synopsis: “When Frank (Trey Harrison) finds his happy home under attack by a dangerous but largely unknown breed of shark, he’s enlists the aid of the world’s only “House Shark” Expert, Zachary (Michael Merchant), and a grizzled former real estate agent, Abraham (Wes Reid), to embark on a desperate quest to destroy the beast and claim back his life. It’s JAWS in a house!”

From writer/director Ron Bonk and produced by Ron Bonk (“She Kills”) & Jonathan Straiton (“Night of Something Strange”), it stars Wes Reid, Trey Harrison and Michael Merchant. The soundtrack will be composed by Emmett Van Slyke and the monster mechanics and gore FX will be handled by Marcus Koch. Ron Bonk describes it as both a love letter to the late 70’s blockbusters from Steven Spielberg, but also a homage to the great monster/horror flicks of the 70’s and 80’s. “House Shark” will be in production through August of this year, and a premiere is planned for end of summer 2017. Swing on by www.srscinema.com for more news and updates on the progress of the movie.  Visit their Indiegogo campaign at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/house-shark#/

Production to Begin in March on The Perfect Host: A Southern Gothic Tale

As ghost hunters we’re always excited to hear about new paranormal films being shot or released.  So, we were thrilled when we found out that a movie was going to be filmed at the actually haunted Allen House in Monticello, Arkansas.  We will definitely keep our eyes peeled on this one and update you with more information as it comes in.
Principal photography on Fabled Motion Pictures’ feature film
The Perfect Host: A Southern Gothic Tale begins in March in Monticello,
The story centers around the infamous Allen House, one of the nation’s most haunted
homes. The Allen House has been featured on multiple programs on Biography, A&E,

there, she and her young daughter set up temporary residence in the Allen House.

Gay Horror-Comedy You’re Killing Me Available March 8 On DVD

YOU’RE KILLING ME, an intriguing and unusual mix of horror and romantic comedy, will be released through Wolfe Video on DVD and VOD on March 8, 2016.

George (Jeffery Self), a narcissistic wannabe internet star, starts dating Joe (Matthew McKelligon), a monotone serial killer. While all of George’s friends agree that Joe seems a bit strange, George claims his new beau “isn’t scary, he’s gorgeous.” But as George’s friends start to disappear, the remaining group decides to take matters into their own hands.

Directed by Jim Hansen, creator of the viral video smash series “The Chloe Videos”, this gay mixture of “Dexter” and “Gilmore Girls” blends witty banter, pop culture references and good old-fashioned murder. YOU’RE KILLING ME employs humor, camp, and razor sharp wit to tell a morality tale about self-obsession and our growing disconnection with the world around us. After sold out festival screenings and critical acclaim last year, the film is now available to nationwide audiences.

Starring popular gay actor Matthew McKelligon (Interior. Leather. Bar., Eastsiders, and My Sweet Suicide), Jeffery Self (Logo’s “Jeffery & Cole Casserole”), Drew Droege (The Chloe Videos), Mindy Cohn (“The Secret Life of the American Teenager”), and Edi Patterson (“Blackish,” “Partners”).

The Gates of Hell Open in JeruZalem

According to legend there are three gates to hell – one in the desert, one in the ocean and one in the holy city of Jerusalem.

In the Paz brother’s film Jeruzalem, Sarah (Danielle Jadelyn) is still struggling with the tragic death of her brother one year later.  Her best friend Rachel (Yael Grobglas) thinks it will get Sarah’s mind off of it to go visit their cultural homeland of Israel and party in Tel Aviv.  While on the plane they meet a young and successful world-traveling anthropologist named Kevin (Yon Tumarkin) who has some business in Jerusalem and talks the girls into coming.

The movie is actually filmed in the ancient city and after the three meet an Arab working at the hostel where they’re staying the trio does some site-seeing and some serious partying.  The film is shown through Google Glass that Sarah is wearing (although it doesn’t call it that by name).  After a local boy steals her backpack containing her prescription glasses she is confined to wear them for the remainder of the trip.

Kevin begins to feel that something might be wrong after finding a video on the deep (dark) web that shows the world’s religious leaders gathered trying to exorcise a demon from a lady.  A young boy is present who later becomes pivotal in the story.  After a terrorist attack in the city just days before Yom Kippur (the day of atonement) Kevin strongly believes that the end-time prophesies may be coming true.

With Jerusalem under siege the Israeli military begins closing the walls of the city causing everyone to try to escape.  The dead start coming back to life sprouting wings and soon also the Nephilim appear.  The Nephilim are the offspring of fallen angels and women referred to in the book of Enoch.  The dead and Nephilim signal the end of days.  After rescuing Kevin from a mental asylum he’s put in after suffering Jerusalem Syndrome, Sarah, Rachel and the Arab along with two Israeli soldiers try to escape the city.  With the walls closed it’s up to the Arab’s father to try to remember an alternate way out through King Solomon’s Caves that he used to use when he was younger.  The group needs to survive the undead and the Nephilim to make it out alive.  Will they?

We absolutely loved this movie.  The drama and suspense began from the first minute and never let up.  The writing was very well done and we liked the biblical messages as well as the undead and the Nephilim.  The cinematography was beautiful, actually being filmed in Israel, including holy sites.  The camera work was brilliant using the backdrop of the city to add a mystique and tension, while making good use of close-up shots to give a claustrophobic feel in the corridors and alleys.  There were some tough shots including the whole movie being seeing from the point of view of the Google Glass and a final scene that is worth seeing alone.
