Last year we were a little disappointed at Haunted Hollywood Sports. Being its first year though we were understanding that there were going to be some things that still needed to be improved upon and that it was a year of growing pains. So, we didn’t know what to expect for the sophomore year at HHS. The media night preview gave us an idea that things this year were going to be better though.
We went with a group of seven people to Haunted Hollywood Sports and we all had a great time. The girls got scared in the mazes and the guys got to feel like heroes in the kill houses. Altogether there are three mazes, three killhouses, zombie paintball and a shooting range (which we didn’t participate in due to time constraints). There are also scare zones and a sideshow.
All American Armageddon and Cannibal Caverns have pretty much the same atmosphere for the most part just with different themes. This is what the website says about All American Armageddon: “In the not-too-distant future, global civilization has collapsed as panic and decay has swept across the Earth. The peaceful walls of your abandoned oil refinery that you call home has just been discovered. Will you run and hide t o survive another day? Or will you finally join the fight as an all out war is about to break loose? Welcome to the end of the life as you know it where survival is a part of every day existence. Gear up and brace yourself fofr Armageddon is just around the corner“. This is what the website says about Cannibal Caverns: “What happened to the Search and Rescue team? Are the caverns and fallouts shelters truly abandoned or are they home to an unspeakable and insatiable evil? Uncover the answers with your team and solve the mystery of the missing Search and Rescue team. Investigate the claims of the caverns and fallout shelters and survive the desolate terrain and the unknown terror that lurks within!” What really stood out though was the newest maze, Venom (sponsored by the energy drink). Venom is rich in detail and really has a great story line, “Venture into an ancient temple, dodging deadly traps, navigating maze-like labyrinths and surviving attacks from countless entities and venemous snakes“. We actually thought this was a much better maze than some of the more established ones at other places. Don’t get us wrong though, the other two mazes were fun and the night we went the scare-actors were giving it their all.
The killhouses are always fun and a unique experience that you can’t get anyplace else. There’s the Zombie Killhouse, Voodoo Killhouse and Deadman’s Trail Killhouse, although we didn’t see the latter. The killhouses gives you the opportunity to suspend reality, be scared and get some exercise all at the same time.
After the killhouses we decided to relax for a bit so we got some drinks at the 21+ nightclub. Although the nightclub wasn’t crowded when we were there, we found it enjoyable to just be able to sit down, listen to some music and have a refreshing Halloween-themed cocktail. The park is less crowded than the other theme parks and has a more intimate feel. We think that by yea, if they add a couple of more mazes like Venom this will definitely be a destination haunt.
